Dane Seidlitz
Owner & Head Trainer
Dane has over 10 years of experience training dogs in Canada and the United States. He has worked with a large variety of dogs, including high drive working dogs, competitive sport dogs, and pet dogs. Dane co-owned a dog training business on Vancouver Island for the past 8 years, primarily working with reactive dogs. Relocating to Vancouver in 2023, resulted in the launch of a new dog training business. Allez Dog Sports encompasses Dane’s passion for dog sport foundations and competition training.
Dane’s training philosophy focuses on building the dog’s engagement and motivation. Engagement is the most important thing you can work to develop with your dog. Strong engagement gives you a dog that is focused, wants to work with their owner, and is able to handle distractions. Dane’s training method encourages owners to build a relationship with their dog through clear communication and reward systems. He is an advocate for utilizing play to motivate dogs to work with their owners more consistently. Engagement training is fundamental to creating lasting training results. Each dog and owner have different training requirements and goals. For this reason, training plans vary for each individual client.
In 2017 and 2018, Dane mentored under Michael Ellis, one of the most renowned dog trainers in North America. In 2017, Dane completed the highly competitive Immersion Program at The Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers in California, USA. The dense curriculum included courses on the topics of Puppy Development, Motivation, Advanced Obedience Skills, Protection Theory, and Behavior Modification. In 2018, Dane was the one of a few select graduates to be invited back to intern for the Immersion Program. Since then, Dane furthers his education through online courses, in person seminars, and by actively competing in Regional/National dog sporting events. He works with and learns from the top trainers in the industry to help fine tune different training techniques.
Dane competes in a variety of dog sports. He fell in love with the protection sport, French Ring, which has become his primary training focus. His two adult Malinois, Maui and Aegon, did well in their last competition season with high placements. Maui took 1st place in the Canadian Ringsport Association Cup Final. Aegon took 2nd place in the Canadian Ringsport Association Cup Final while also winning the overall Grand Championship from the season in Ring 1. Dane also has an up and coming Malinois puppy being trained for French Ring, Jedhai.
Dane has traveled across Canada and the United States to compete in Dock Dogs. Aegon holds the 2018 and 2019 Extreme Vertical World Championship title. Aegon also won, Best Malinois in Big Air, Extreme Vertical, and Iron Dog, while earning Podium finishes in Big Air, and Iron Dog. They were invited to Purina’s Incredible Dog Challenge in the United States, and won the Western Regional Championship. Dane periodically competes in Competitive Obedience and Scent Detection. Dane’s competitive spirit drives his desire to learn and improve his skills in order to be the best competitor and coach.
Allez Dog Sports - Meaning Behind the Name
The name, Allez Dog Sports, stems from Dane’s love for the sport of French Ring. “Allez” is the French command for “go!” and is often used as an expression of encouragement. This sentiment of “go, movement, motivation” inspires the training style used at Allez Dog Sports. We want to encourage clients to do more with their dogs, and be more engaging and playful!
